About Ensemble Connections

Ensemble Connections was founded by experienced music educator, conductor, and arts leader Sharelle Guest with one simple goal: to help school leavers continue their musical journey by connecting them with community ensembles across Australia.

After more than 35 years as an Instrumental Music Teacher, Sharelle knows that not every student will choose music as a career after Year 12—and that’s perfectly okay. But finishing school doesn’t have to mean the end of making music.

Whether you’re heading to university, starting an apprenticeship, working full-time, travelling, or beginning the next chapter of your life, there is still a place for music. Playing in a band, orchestra, choir, or other community ensemble is a fantastic way to continue developing your skills, meet new people, contribute to your community, and enjoy the lifelong benefits of making music.

Music is for life.

Ensemble Connections makes it easy to find the right ensemble for you. Search by region, rehearsal day, or ensemble type to discover groups that match your interests, experience, and schedule.

If you borrowed an instrument while you were at school, don’t let that stop you from continuing to play. Many community ensembles have instruments available for members to borrow, making it easier to stay involved while you get established.

Ensemble Connections is also your gateway to the wider music community. Find local music retailers, repairers, and service providers to help keep your instrument in great condition. As the site grows, you’ll also find practical maintenance tips, conversations with composers and conductors, resources for musicians, and advice to help you get the most enjoyment from your musical journey.

Most importantly, we want to celebrate the incredible work of community ensembles. Follow us on Facebook, share your ensemble experiences, tag us in your performances and events, and help inspire others to keep music in their lives.

No matter where life takes you, there is an ensemble waiting to welcome you.

Keep playing. Keep connecting. Keep music in your life.
